Founded in Perkasie in 1979, Tom Hamburger Builders, Inc. is a family run general contracting business where we specialize in building custom homes that exceed our clients’ expectations. We’ve been in business for over 40 years, and over those 40 years 90% of our projects have been completed right here in the Upper Bucks County, and Perkasie/Sellersville Area. We take pride in our ability to shape the future of residential architecture locally and give homeowners the ability to build homes in the places they love. Staying local has allowed us to be close to our work, build meaningful connections with skilled local craftsmen and in the community, and make our clients the focus of our attention at every phase of the construction process. It is upon this attention to detail that we have built our reputation and that prompts clients to hire us back time after time.
Founded in Perkasie in 1979, Tom Hamburger Builders, Inc. is a family run general contracting business where we specialize in building custom homes that exceed our clients’ expectations. We’ve been in business for over 40 years, and over those 40 years 90% of our projects have been completed right here in the Upper Bucks County, and Perkasie/Sellersville Area. Tom Hamburger – Owner / President
Tom Hamburger owner and president of Tom Hamburger Builders got the majority of his construction education in the field — directly from the source. He is a Pennridge High School graduate where he participated in the Upper Bucks Tech School construction work study program. The examples set by his uncles and the mentorship from his vocational program director stood as the biggest inspiration to his prosperous construction career. Tom founded Tom Hamburger Builders in 1979 when he was just 20 years old to support his growing family, then incorporated in 1987. That family has since grown even more, and includes his wife Brenda, 4 children, and 8 grandchildren. Outside of work Tom is an active volunteer with the Upper Bucks, Meals on Wheels program, has participated locally in many running and biking competitions, enjoys hiking, gardening, bee keeping, bird hunting with his four legged companion Cooper, and the great outdoors.

Our Process
Over the past 40 years we’ve learned that custom home building, additions and renovation projects regardless of size have a lot of components that all require a significant investment of attention, time and resources. Which is why we’ve developed a step by step process that allows us to fully understand the scope of your project, while offering you a 3 tiered pricing structure, that allows you to choose the solution that aligns with your vision.
First Meeting
First, we schedule an in-home meeting to gather more information about the vision for your home, the reason(s) for considering this project and to answer any initial questions you have about the home building process.
Project Outline
We then come up with a project outline that describes the components you will need to bring your vision to life. This step usually includes a ballpark estimate of what your project will cost based on our experience building other projects.
Design Your Project
Once you have an idea of what your project outline entails you will schedule a meeting with the designer of your choice to determine the architecture and layout of your building project.
Pricing
Once the design and layout for your project is complete we provide construction pricing in our good, better best format so you can choose the solution that aligns with your vision and your budget.
Planning & Permits
Once you have approved your construction plan, the final construction drawings are developed and permits are obtained.
Construction
Staying within the local area for most of our projects allows us to manage every detail throughout each phase of the construction process. At Tom Hamburger Builders, we do our best to complete projects on time and on budget. Here are the 7 main phases of the construction process:
- Excavation / Demo
- Foundation
- Framing / Structural Changes
- Roofing / Siding / Exterior Finishes
- Rough Mechanicals
- Insulation / Dry Wall
- Finishes / Faucets / Appliances / Flooring / Etc. Just before the project is complete we will meet up with you to go over every detail of your nearly done project and make a list of any outstanding items or questions you have before we wrap up.
